Lasers

Halo

Halo can improve the appearance of tone, texture and wrinkles, as well as reduce pore size and increase reflectivity using lasers that target the precise depth of skin damage from sun exposure and the natural aging process. The treatment is customizable, offering a range in treatment levels and downtime. For additional information, please visit www.halobysciton.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do treatments feel like?

A: Most patients describe the treatment as a feeling of heat with occasional prickling sensations, but are generally comfortable. After the treatment, most patients will continue to feel warm for an additional 15 to 30 minutes, or a bit longer with deeper treatment levels.

Q: How soon after my treatment can I return to normal activities?

A: For the first 24 hours you should keep your skin protected according to your clinician’s instructions, but after that you should be able to go about your normal activities. After the first 24 hours your skin will begin to peel, but you will be able to put on makeup. For a facial treatment, you will see very little change on the first day. After two to three days you will develop a light bronzing appearance. By day three or four your skin will peel, revealing your new skin beneath.

Q: How long will my results last?

A: Your Halo results will last for years to come, but you should continue to keep your skin protected at all times using UV sunscreen to protect your new, healthy skin. Each additional Halo treatment you get will only improve the results, giving you even better looking skin.

BBL (BroadBand Light)

BBL (BroadBand Light) is a non-invasive, innovative new treatment that sends light energy deep into the skin to treat a variety of skin conditions including age spots, freckles, acne, acne scars and more. To learn what BBL can do for anti-aging and hair removal, read about Forever Young BBL and Forever Bare BBL below. For additional information, please visit www.bblbysciton.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does BBL work?

A: The system delivers light energy gently heats the upper layers of your skin. The heat absorbed gently stimulates your skin cells to generate new collagen. And since adapters can be changed during the procedure, your doctor can treat more than one condition in a single session.

Q: What areas of the body can be treated?

A: Any area can be treated. Most people ask for treatments on the face, neck, back of the hands, chest and shoulders.

Q: What does the treatment feel like?

A: Most patients don't find it painful. Some compare the feeling to the snap of a rubber band, more of a surprise than a feeling of pain.

Q: How many treatments will I need?

A: The number varies from patient to patient. Generally 2-5 treatments at 3-4 week intervals will produce the desired results. Talk with your doctor to personalize a plan.

Q: What should I expect immediately after treatment?

A: You may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. For some pigmented lesions, you will see a darkening of the treated area followed by fading and flaking off at a later stage. Your treated skin will feel smoother, pores will be less noticeable, and sunspots or uneven pigmentation will fade. There is virtually no downtime. In most cases, you are able to apply makeup, return to work and resume most of your activities immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can Forever Young BBL really stop the clock on the appearance of aging skin?

A: Yes. It was proven in a long-term clinical study. Patients received regular BBL treatments over the course of a decade. At the end of the study, doctors judged the patients to appear 11 years younger than their actual age. In other words, they looked younger than when the study began.

Q: What areas of the body can be treated?

A: Any area can be treated. Most people ask for treatments on the face, neck, back of the hands, chest and shoulders.

A: Forever Young BBL is a preventive regimen, so the best time to think about the effects of aging is before they appear. Both men and women with almost any skin type can protect themselves against the sun and environmental damage.

Nano LaserPeel

The Nano LaserPeel is a fast and easy treatment that reveals soft, silky skin and restores a fresh, youthful glow to your entire face. It uses light energy to instantly remove the top layers of the skin at a depth that also accelerates the skin’s own renewal process by activating special messenger cells. Only the Nano LaserPeel has the precision to work at just the right depth, creating beautifully smooth, luminous skin with just 1-2 days of downtime. The treatment can be used to treat mild wrinkles, scars, keratosis, sun damage and pigment irregularities. For additional information, please visit www.scitonnlp.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does Nano LaserPeel work?

A: The Nano LaserPeel beam is scanned over a treatment area to remove a very thin layer of the skin. Removing the top layer eliminates some of the damaged cells that can give skin a tired, aged look. Plus it activates messenger cells to trigger the body’s natural healing process. As the skin heals, fresh cells grow and resurface the treated area. And the procedure usually lasts only 5 to 10 minutes.

Q: What areas of the body can be treated?

A: Most skin areas can be treated. Popular treatment areas are the face and neck, though some people also treat the chest and hands.

Q: What does the treatment feel like?

A: Nano LaserPeel causes very little pain because it does not penetrate deeply into the skin. At its most shallow settings, most people can tolerate treatment with no anesthetic at all.

Q: What should I expect immediately after the treatment?

A: You will notice that the skin has a "frosty" appearance. This is the dehydrated skin that will peel away over the next few days. You may experience some skin redness and a sensation resembling sunburn, as well as mild swelling.

Q: When should I expect results?

A: Most patients notice an obvious improvement in tone, texture and color evenness in 2-3 days.

Contour TRL Laser Peel

As we age, the effects of sun damage and environmental pollutants take their toll on our skin, creating wrinkles and

pigment irregularities, especially on our faces. A Laser Peel can be very successful at reducing or eliminating these conditions, and in fact it is the best way to address the problematic lines that occur around the mouth and eyes. Though there are several different types of lasers used to perform peels, the Contour TRL is widely regarded as the safest, most effective laser available. Contour TRL can treat deep wrinkles (including around the mouth and eyes), scars, solar spots, actinic keratoses and poor skin tone/texture. For additional information, please visit www.sciton.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does a Contour TRL Laser Peel work?

A: Contour TRL safely removes a layer of skin to a depth determined by your physician. The procedure usually lasts 15 to 30 minutes. Because Contour TRL can affect tissue with micron precision, your physician can treat your skin with the exact amount of energy needed – no more, no less. Treating skin with a laser stimulates the growth of new collagen, which improves the skin’s thickness and resilience. The skin surface will also re-grow with fresh, healthy cells, which will give your skin a younger rejuvenated appearance.

Q: What areas of the body can be treated?

A: Several areas can be treated. Commonly treated areas are the face and neck.

Q: How many treatments will I need?

A: Because Contour TRL is capable of deep laser peels, excellent results are typically achieved after one treatment.

Q: What does the treatment feel like?

A: The comfort level varies from patient to patient and depends largely on the depth of treatment. For shallow treatments, the procedure is often tolerated with the use of a topical anesthetic. For deeper treatments, your physician may administer a subcutaneous local anesthetic.

Q: What should I expect immediately after the treatment?

A: Immediately following the procedure, you may experience redness and a sensation resembling sunburn. Swelling may also occur in the treated areas. Sunscreen is recommended, and your physician will advise you on additional after-treatment care recommendations. Complete healing depends on the depth of treatment. Healing times for shallow treatments are typically 3-4 days before patient resumes normal activities.

Q: When should I expect results?

A: In about one week, you will see noticeable improvements in your skin's texture, tone and wrinkle appearance. Deeper laser treatments also stimulate the growth of new collagen over the next 4 to 6 months. During this time, the skin may show increasing improvements in tightness and resilience.

Forever Bare BBL – Shawnee Mission location

Forever Bare BBL (BroadBand Light) is the revolutionary new treatment that takes hair removal to the next level. Kiss goodbye to the hassle of shaving, painful waxing and tweezing! Using gentle, yet effective BBL energy to heat hair follicles, the Forever Bare BBL treatment is as comfortable as a hot stone massage. The result is hair removal that's more comfortable, safer and faster than other traditional treatments. Treat any area of the body with unwanted hair to reveal beautiful skin. For additional information, please visit www.sciton.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does Forever Bare BBL work?

A: Pulsed light delivers photo thermal energy to hair follicles. The rapid, short pulses of light or photo thermal energy causes the hair follicle to stop producing hair without harming any surrounding tissue. Treatment time varies depending upon the size of the area. Typically, a smaller area only takes a few minutes while a large area can take 15 minutes or slightly longer.

Q: What areas of the body can be treated?

A: Any area can be treated. The most common areas are the face, under arms, arms, legs, bikini area, chest, shoulders and back.

Q: What does the treatment feel like?

A: Treatments are comfortable and safe. A cooling system soothes the skin, so the treatment is delivered with minimal or no discomfort. Personal sensitivity varies from patient to patient. Discuss your sensitivity with your healthcare provider before treatment.

Q: How many treatments will I need?

A: Most areas require 3-5 treatments applied at 4-6 week intervals. Since not all hairs are in the same growth stage at the same time, multiple treatments are necessary to target all hair in the treatment site.

Q: What should I expect immediately after the treatment?

A: You may experience some redness that should go away within a few hours. A few days to a week after treatment, you may experience what seems to be a regrowth of hair. Most of these hairs are actually being shed as a result of treatment. There is virtually no downtime, so you can resume normal daily activities immediately.

Q: What aftercare will I need?

A: Keep the area clean, use sunscreen when outdoors and follow your doctor's instructions.

Q: How many treatments will I need?

A: One to three treatments are usually sufficient to see results. Additional treatments may be recommended, especially for excessively sun-damaged skin.

Q: When will I see results?

A: Within 1 to 3 weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade. Diffuse redness or telangiectasia will decrease and your mottled complexion will improve.
